These contracts are fairly distributed to give equal opportunities to all our regions so that our highways are fully maintained to standards and this in itself is a historical signing of 6 major road contracts in one occasion.

This marks the continued commitment of the Government to restore and rebuild our highways and this is really the way to go.Roads that are in improved state will play a huge role in supporting business activities and services delivery because roads in PNG is the main mode of transportation needs in the country compared to maritime and air transport, roads need to be maintained up to a reasonable condition that is the main objective of this major lumpsum road contract signing.

However, our roads have been neglected for many years and backlog of maintenance cost is so huge that is always rising but now the Connect PNG Program 2020-2040 that the Government is implementing starting with this 6 major road contracts signing will fix, repair and restore our key highways around the country and that is the way this Government is going forward.
