Australia keen on promoting local content- Australian Government projects in the pipeline

#pacifictenders attended an information exchange session on 19th May 2022, facilitated by 2 ADF personnel specialized in the construction sector.

Their were discussions on upcoming opportunities for potential Australian Government project works over the next two to three years.

The event attracted a good number of local experts and contractors in the construction industry, including local EOD experts.
As part of building connections with the local Industry the ADF personel experiences and capabilities to manage and build to standard, Australian Government funded small scale-infrastructures specifically in Honiara and the Shortland Islands and remote regions.

Specific works include single storey buildings, simple housing units, basic road construction, possible sourcing of concrete cast in situ/precast. Other works include Fencing, Survey, Worker Camp establishment, Marine Construction (jetty/Piers) Road Construction, Logistics (medical, shipping, air freight).

A team of Engineers from Australia will be arriving shortly after this to try and facilitate actual work plans and confirmation of specific scopes of work which will be published as tender notices in June or July 2022.

How many contracts on offer? is still not certain but, to date the Australian government is committed to building much needed infrastructure in Solomon Islands.

Pacific Tenders will be bringing you all the opportunities once they are finalized. Do Subscribe to day if you’re an SME that’s looking for such opportunities.
